Can you export the camera move for 3d/vfx

Answer

Yes, we have a CGI Export function within Flair to export the move for post-production.

The most commonly used format is FBX with coordinate system of Maya Y-up.

Focus and turntable is also available to be exported.

What is the MRMC Cinebot Max

The MRMC Cinebot Max is Mocolab's second motion controlled robot for filmmaking. It will be available August 2024.

The Cinebot Max will be even more portable, easier to take on location while also having a longer reach and heavier payload than the Bolt Jr+.

What's the catch? It's a much slower robot vs. the Bolt, so less suitable for high-speed capture with our Phantom Veo.

Where is Mocolab Based?

Mocolab is based in Philadelphia, PA. Most of our shoots are in PA, NY and NJ.

As one of the few motion control rental providers with a fully portable operation including trucking and van rentals our robot has worked from Rochester, NY to Richmond, VA with ease.

What is the Phantom Veo 4k?

The Phantom Veo 4k is a high-speed camera, that captures super slow motion cinematography at 4k resolution up to 1000 frames per second.

It is a perfect compliment for the Bolt Jr+ to achieve an incredible look by rapidly moving the camera and focus motor while capturing subjects at speeds 40x slower than the eye would see it.

What lenses work well with the Bolt

The best lens pairings are quality cinema primes of focal lengths 50mm and wider. Lenses beyond 50mm can pick up the resonance from the movement of the robotic arm depending on the move. Lighter lenses support smooth movement.

Zooms are OK when necessary, but by primes are preferred.

Probe based lenses can be mounted, but require some finesse to get a stable image. We often add a lens support, or limit side-to-side movement for best results.

How Much Does the MRMC Bolt Jr+ Cost to Rent?

For an all-in quote with robot, operators, accessories contact Mocolab or Expressway Cinema Rentals today.

The Bolt Jr+ motion control robot rents from $3,500/day.
Two operators are required for the Bolt, crew rates are based on a 10 hour day.
Mocolab has a variety accessories available to complement the robot including motion controlled track, motion control turntable, triggers box, special effects rigging.
Trucking and travel will also be quoted based on shoot location.

The Bolt robot is one tool within a production ecosystem and should be budgeted alongside supporting services (studio rental, camera, grip and electric, art department and post-production.

Is the MRMC Bolt Jr+ Cinebot Portable?

Yes! The Bolt Jr+ is a portable high speed robot. It is available to travel on location or to a studio of your choice.

The cinebot is designed to fit through a standard 34" door, which makes it a location friendly tool. Mocolab owns a transformer that allows the Bolt Jr+ to run off a regular 20amp circuit. The robot usually travels on a 16' box truck with a large liftgate for efficient loading and setup. But the robot can also travel in a sprinter van if required.
